Character Name: Leena Caidi
Race: Ash Elf
Age: 38
Gender: Female
Character Description:
Standing at 6’2”, Leena is a slender ash elf woman. Her white hair cascades in gentle curls a little past her collarbones. Slightly hidden beneath her hair are her eyes, light gold in color and carrying a melancholic warmth. They stand out starkly against her light grey skin, true to the race’s name. She is seen more often in trousers than in any sort of dress, favoring mobility and her own comfort over what is considered fashionable.
Character Occupation: Beginner Florist/Aspiring Alchemist
Character Personality/Traits:
Leena finds it difficult to be fully honest and unapologetically herself due to her upbringing. She is not cold to others, but polite in a way that feels rehearsed. Greeting strangers with a gentle smile and a respectful bow of the head, despite how they may treat her. Once she has seen more of someone’s behavior and is able to better understand how they feel about her and her kin [or those similar to her], she will either close herself off entirely or open up more to them. Those who know her know that she is very excitable, and loves to talk about the things that she is passionate about. Particularly when it comes to alchemy and magic of any kind. She enjoys talking about the possibilities of what could be done and theorizing with others who share her passions. She is also very curious, but in a way that is muted around those that she does not quite know yet. For those she does know and like, she will ask them for guidance revolving around things she does not understand. There is a lot to the world that she does not yet know, and she relishes in learning the things that she has missed out on.
Character Biography:
Leena was born in a time of turmoil. Her high elven mother was quick to abandon her, and her dark elven father had little interest in actually raising her. He often left Leena in the care of her grandmother, who was disapproving of the entire ordeal from the start. He was gone not long after her mother was, insisting upon helping defend their city against the incoming plague, leaving a seven year old Leena with her begrudging grandmother. Their family was already shunned and outcast because of Leena- it was seen as a sin, and her grandmother was one who believed in that narrative. Whether or not she had any love in her heart for Leena is unknown, though Leena liked to believe that her taking her in was an indication that maybe, somewhere deep down, she cared a little.
Though that was about as far as her generosity went. From a young age, Leena learned that it was best to remain quiet, unseen unless spoken to, and obedient. Her grandmother was an alchemist, and always treated poor little Leena more like an assistant than a granddaughter. She was especially eager to send Leena on fetch quests- for things like herbs that she did not wish to gather, and books she did not wish to socialize to find. These quests were the crumbs of freedom fed to Leena growing up, and she relished in it. The paths that she would take were not predetermined, and there were many new things she could learn. Perhaps she could spend a little more time in the library reading books, perhaps she could find a couple of flowers that would look good together and bring them home for herself. Her grandmother was not necessarily strict with timeframes, just that her tasks had to be done within the day. Once she was home, however, that was it. She was locked within those stone walls once more. She was only ever allowed outside if her grandmother allowed it for a task, and she resented how linear her life became. Leena found her comfort within the city’s library- reading tomes with myths of witches and how to best cultivate the growth of flowers. Legends of heroes and villains and warriors in battles larger than life. It sounded thrilling, and like something she dearly wished to be a part of. Perhaps one day, she could have that strength. It was an idea that appealed to her. Maybe one day, her grandmother would see that she is worth more.
As she grew older and enjoyed life outside of her home more and more, her tasks would be completed later and later into the day. Initially, her grandmother shrugged it off, but there was a point where it became excessive for her. They had a confrontation, and for once, Leena stood up for herself. “Why should I have to waste my life away doing your work for you?!” was what she cried out, voice breaking from the sudden strain. 37 years of pent up anger and bitterness spilled out of Leena all at once. She lived her life in fear. No- living would be a bold word. She survived. She was there to fulfill a narrative that fed her grandmother’s pride. Her grandmother was quick to try and put her in her place. Due to her passive nature, Leena backed down, and that was that.
At least that is what her grandmother thought. That night, Leena left. Gathering whatever she could carry and stuffing it in a small satchel, leaving quietly within the night. She learned from the books that she perused that there was a city named Falkvard. Where legends were made throughout war, and people were perhaps more accepted. Maybe she could open a little flower shop- maybe she could learn how to cultivate her own herbs- maybe she could use what little she learned of alchemy to make potions and carve her own fate. Whatever that may be, she wished for the land where mortalkind had forged their own destiny. And for the first time in her life, the hammer was in her hands.

Magic Biography; Explain your character’s magic through backstory application:
It wasn’t often that Leena’s grandmother made her go and retrieve magical items. The first time it was requested of her, she was surprised. These were errands that her grandmother would insist on doing on her own. Perhaps she was feeling a bit sick that day, but Leena was in no place to complain. In fact- the idea alone made her excited! From what little she knew, this was a traveling group of mages and merchants that would not be around long. Magic alone was not something she had much experience with- but being able to witness such feats with her own eyes?! It was like living in a dream.
When she arrived to obtain the item, she was sorely disappointed. What sat before her was what looked to be nothing more than an ordinary glass orb. There were no balls of fire or dragons, just this orb. She handed over the coin, took the orb within her palms and began returning home. Though it seemed quite plain, it felt…. Strange. Like harmless static tugging at her fingertips- and at her mind. Though she did not yet know how to interpret that, she was determined to complete her duty and then sulk in bed for the rest of the day.
Once she was home, it was almost as though her questions poured out of her mouth. Meekly, she asked what the purpose of the item was. Her grandmother was kind for once and humored her questioning. It was enchanted with Telekinesis magic, and was designed to alert the homeowner of intruders by smashing itself against the wall after detecting movement. It wasn’t perfect, but her grandmother wished to defend some of her research- and it worked as a great paperweight in the meantime. Her grandmother laughed it off, but Leena was rather perturbed. When inquired about her confusion, Leena admitted that she didn’t think that was right. Something about that rubbed her the wrong way. When she held it, it felt like lightning. Prickling, but harmless. Her grandmother was confused and shrugged it off, pointing a finger sternly to Leena’s room and sending her to bed that night.
Leena was rather confused when, in the morning, her grandmother was quick to require her attention. When arriving downstairs, her grandmother had that glorified paperweight sat on the table. Inside the orb was a little ball of static-y sparks, which would follow your fingers if you were to place them on the outside of the orb. It was through this incident that her grandmother and Leena both learned that she was gifted in identifying magical items- a talent her grandmother was quick to jump on and try to refine. The only time she ever had Leena double check anything of her design was with items of magical value. It was through her grandmother that she learned other things- enchantments were easier for her to use, caused less strain on her body, and she could activate them faster than others could. Leena’s talent was able to earn her back her coin, after all, and save her from being scammed. Her grandmother attributed this talent of hers to the fact that her mother was known for her enchantments, and that ‘perhaps her blood was good for something after all.’ Now that she is older it is not something that she uses often, though she does enjoy indulging in the only trait of hers that feels uniquely her own. She’s no stranger to saving others from a scam, or elaborating on her instincts.
Please explain, in your own words, the limits Ash-Elves have placed on them:
Ash elves aren’t able to use Bothimir’s Gift in the same way that other races can, instead being more inclined to the material use and identification of the magic. Interacting with magical or enchanted items comes easier to them than that of other races, but they cannot use aspects and trinkets like other races that are gifted.
Please give a description of the magic system in your own words:
The magic system is a system where people playing eligible races can pick their aspects [as determined by the race] and cast/create spells within those bounds. You need a trinket in order to cast magic, and the quality of your trinket limits the strength of your spells- along with your own magical mastery. The limit to the number of spells cast is determined by the rank of the mage.

Thank you for your patience! The application appears to be well in order, following and showing clear impact by the server history on the character and an understanding of what the magic system is and how it is interacted with by ash-elves. The description of the magic system is somewhat lackluster but can be forgiven thanks to past experience with the server and the race itself, which does not concern itself with more intricate details to the system such as trinket strength or line-of-sight rules.
