Starter Guide

Greetings, and welcome to the Realm of Saphriel! Whether you might be an adventurer, mercenary, merchant, traveler or otherwise, if you are reading this, then you likely have an interest in joining both the world and community that we have created, or you are a returning player who wishes to find a refresher on the basics of the world and environment we have created.

This guide provides the basic information you need to flesh out your server and character applications, gives a summary of our rules and guides, and walks through downloading the suggested mods and resources that we use to aid in roleplay on the server.

The Realm of Saphriel is a mature server with a wide range of subject matter. Due to this, we recommend that our players be at least 18+ years of age before applying. This does not mean we will deny younger applicants, but mature situations may arise and maturity is expected of all players on the server.

Additionally, while we have many rules and systems in place, these are there to simply lay a groundwork and to support our overall free-form style of roleplay. Players are expected to know their limits when it comes to their characters, be serious in their roleplay and respect their fellow players and staff.

With that said, at the end of the day we’re all here to have fun and immerse ourselves in an engaging, dynamic setting. If anything here or elsewhere seems intimidating or you still have questions after reading this guide, feel free to hop into our Discord and chat with staff or players – all of us are happy to help!

Before creating your application, a player should read the Server Rules. These rules go over the basics for the use of in-game race languages and the chat plugin that facilitates our roleplay, discuss art used on our forums or commissioned within our community, as well as offer a general code of conduct we expect from players. Above all, we ask that people are courteous and use common sense when it comes to roleplay and dealing with others.

Once you’ve gone over the server rules, the other most important documents for you to go through and understand are our Lore and Races pages. While we don’t expect everybody applying to know everything there is to know about Saphriel, you should at least have a basic understanding of the regions, history and culture of Saphriel to create a character that fits within the setting. More specific and detailed lore on the Creation of the World, Magic of Saphriel, The Gods, and Cities & Nations can be found in their respective links. We understand that this is a lot to digest, so don’t feel pressured to read all of it at once, but learning more about the setting will make it easier to accommodate yourself and your character in roleplay, as well as better flesh out your character’s history and beliefs.

If you are interested in the more in-depth systems of our server, specifically Crafting, Hunting, Herb Growing and Alchemy, you can find explanations of them in their respective links. These aren’t mandatory reading upon making a character, but can be considered advanced mechanics for when a character gets into the deeper aspects of the server beyond interactions and exploring.

If you’re still interested and you feel you have enough to write a character, you’re welcome to make your application to the Realm of Saphriel! You can find the format and checklist for your application on either MinecraftForums or PlanetMinecraft, where newcomers must put in their first application unless given approval by our whitelisting team to make it on our forums. From there it is a simple matter of waiting for review and getting feedback! We strive to review all apps within at most three days of being posted; if three days pass and your app still hasn’t been looked at, feel free to poke a member of the whitelisting team and we will get to it as quickly as we can. Even if your application is Denied, we’ll be more than happy to work with you and help make your character both enjoyable for you and fitting within the world of Saphriel.

Now that you’re in the world of Saphriel, you might be wondering what to do next? That is entirely up to your character and what direction you as a player wish to take them. To help with what your character may know, explain our world, and provide some starting points, it is suggested to read through our Player Roleplay Guide, which contains links to the Looking for a Permit? and Kingdom Figures & Guilds which are In-Character posters placed around the kingdom to aid characters in finding what they may be looking for that the kingdom itself can help with. There are also announcements in our Discord whenever any of the taverns or stores are staffed – these are good places to get to meet other characters and make connections via RP.

From here, simply explore, roleplay, interact with the community and ask any questions you have to staff as required. We are always here to help and make sure the experience of the player is as enjoyable as humanly possible. We are always happy to accept constructive feedback as are our various players already a part of the community.

And last, but not least the commands of the server. Plenty of these are self explanatory and the most basic are listed at the spawn in our server, but they can also be found here for easy and quick reference when required. If there are any missing or any commands that do not seem to be working properly then please contact a member of staff immediately to bring it to our attention.
